We are particularly thankful for the targeted support that we have received from the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Southern Maryland. You clearly reached into the community to make a measurable difference in the lives of our students.

We appreciate your generous contribution of $450 for awards and advertising. Contributions such as yours provide support and helped to make our 52nd Annual St. Mary's County Science and Engineering Fair a huge sucess. the students that participate each year look forward to the special awards and recognition they receive from the community.

2012 Joseph Priestley Science Fair Awards

UUFSM presents 2012 Joseph Priestley Awards

Unitarian Universalism is a religion of both reverence and reason. In support of that, we award the Joseph Priestley Cash Award (Junior and Senior categories) to the students whose science fair project in chemistry has the best potential to improve quality of life or shows great promise.

On February 4^th, judges from UUFSM selected four students.

· Senior award, Madeleine Beaulieu, Magnet Juice

· Senior award, Victoria Lusk, Flamin’ Fabrics

· Junior award, Aleksander Glut, Which Motor Oil Maintains Its Viscosity?

· Junior award, Gregory Sowa, Red Hot

The volunteer mediators and staff at the Community Mediation Center of St. Mary's thank you for your recent $260 donation. We are grateful for your generosity. How a society manages its disputes reflects very much on the quality of life in that society. To the extent that people can resolve their differences in a manner that respects opposing views, a sense of harmony emerges. To the extent that disputes are resolved by adversarial battles in court or in the street, the opposite effect results.
