Public Forum on Health Care Reform in Annapolis
A forum on Health Care Reform in Maryland will be held January 23, 2012, under the auspices of the Maryland Women’s Coalition for Health Care Reform and the League of Women Voters of Maryland. The purpose of the forum is to hear about the work that has already been done, and make recommendations for additional work needed, to bring into being Maryland’s Health Benefit Exchange. This exchange will be the source of health care coverage for people who are uninsured or under-insured when the exchange goes into effect on January 1, 2014.
You have probably read about the effort to include regular mammograms and pap smears in the coverage offered by the exchange. More recently the debate has been about whether birth control should be included.
The Maryland Women’s Coalition for Health Care Reform will hold the forum at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis, 333 Dubois Rd., Annapolis, MD 21401, beginning at 11:30 for lunch, 12:30 for speakers.
Speakers include:
- Josh Sharfstein, secretary of the Department of Mental Health and Hygiene
- Carolyn Quattrocki, executive director of the Office of Health Care Reform
- Experts from the National Women’s Law Center.
Registration is required! Contact Leni Preston, chair of the Coalition, at leni [at] mdchcr [dot] org to register.
