Policy: Email lists at UUFSM
Policy: Use of official UUFSM E-Mail Lists
(adopted 5/06, updated 2011)
We maintain three email lists:
- announcements AT uufsm.org (members, friends, people interested in UUFSM)
- News AT uufsm.org (for distribution of newsletter)
- members AT uufsm.org (members only list)
The official UUFSM email lists should be used sparingly, and should always include UUFSM in the subject heading. Only emails that need to go to all of the Fellowship should be sent via the UUFSM email lists. Teams and groups with specific interests should use smaller, privately-generated email lists or have online groups created for them by the webmaster.
The monthly newsletter is sent to the list News AT uufsm.org.
Appropriate uses for the Fellowship email list (Announcements AT uufsm.org) are described below.
- Emergency Announcements Examples: closing of the Fellowship due to weather conditions, or Pastoral Care alerts, when emails should be sent in conjunction with phone calls. See the Phone Tree Section below for details.
- Sending out the weekly news bulletin. Information that comes from UUA or JPD or other sources during the week should be posted on the website or sent to Bulletin [at] uufsm [dot] org by Wednesday noon to be included in this emailing. (Late-breaking information can be sent out via a special announcement, but this should be avoided if possible.) Highlights and We Care news are included in the body of the email that is sent.
- Special Announcements to the Fellowship The Board Chair or the Minister should approve these. They include announcements of late-breaking events that will occur before the regular Friday mailing, important information that needs highlighting, information for members only, and information that requires quick feedback. All communications sent via email must also be available via print or phone.
