Chalice Children
The "Chalice Children" class is for children four through twelve years of age. In keeping with this year's Lifespan Religious Exploration theme, "Becoming and Being a Unitarian Universalist," the teachers will use curricula designed to help young children learn about their church and congregation by playing games, singing, and having fun in a group. Using the "We Believe curriculum," children will also learn of the seven UU principles and how to make them a part of daily life.
The content is based on the philosophy that a child's spiritual development is related to his/her direct experiences with the great force of nature; discovery of her/his surroundings; the chance to play, dream and learn cooperation; the act of making choices about present good vs. future good; and personal achievement gained through ever-growing skills and independence.
