An Afternoon with Eugene Peterson
Prolific author, former pastor, and leading voice in the spiritual and pastoral life, Eugene Peterson will be speaking at St. Mary’s Seminary & University in Baltimore on Friday, May 13, 2011. “An Afternoon with Eugene Peterson,” for pastors and other church leaders, will focus on two of his recent books, The Jesus Way and The Pastor: A Memoir. An ordained Presbyterian minister, Eugene Peterson was pastor of Christ our King Presbyterian Church in Bel Air, MD for 29 years. During that time he taught at the Ecumenical Institute at the seminary before moving to Regent College in Vancouver, B.C., Canada to become Professor of Spiritual Theology. He now lives with his wife, Jan, in their family home in Montana. Best known to some for his Bible paraphrase The Message, Eugene Peterson is the author of 36 books, including Practice Resurrection: A Conversation on Growing Up in Christ; A Long Obedience in the Same Direction: Discipleship in an Instant Society; Eat this Book: A Conversation in the Art of Spiritual Reading; Reversed Thunder (a commentary on Revelation); Praying with the Psalms (and other books on the psalms); The Contemplative Pastor; The Jesus Way: A Conversation on the Ways that Jesus is the Way; and his brand-new release, The Pastor: A Memoir.
