Last day for "Guest at Your Table" collection
This is the last day to turn in the Guest At Your Table collection.
"Guest at Your Table" collection
The Guest At Your Table collection will be on Sunday, January 10. If you are unable to attend January 10, donations will be collected any Sunday throughout January.
Please write a check to "UUSC" for the amount you have collected and place in the box (or envelope). Donations of $100 or more will be matched by the UU Congregation of Shelter Rock in New York.
UUFSM Youth Group creates a Cake Train
In honor of the Polar Express play we held in December 2009, the UUFSM Youth group gathered on Saturday and created a Cake Train, featuring a steam locomotive (popcorn smoke and pretzel windows, with a waffle ice cream bowl for a cow catcher), a coal car (chocolate chips), two freight cars (tootsie rolls and gum drops), and a little red caboose. The wheels (Oreos and thin mints) ran on red licorice rails.
It was reduced to crumbs at the Sunday snack time.
Loving Hearts, Helping Hands in December
The people of the Fellowship gave generously to families from the community at Christmas. We collected $865 and used that to purchase two bicycles, safety helmets, a computer, books, and other gifts in time for the holidays.
People also gave to our December Charity: The HOPE Food Pantry. Even though we missed a Sunday because of the snow, we still collected $285 and some food.
Holiday Gifts for Families
During the month of December, members of UUFSM purchased two bicycles, a computer, and other gifts for families.
Committees should begin to prepare Budget Requests
Developing our budget takes place over several months.

Once in a Blue Moon
On New Year's Eve, it's the second full moon in the month of December, so that makes it a blue moon. (They happen every 2.7 years.)
Also, the full moon rises at 4:56 pm (60 degrees east of north) and the sun sets (240 degrees east of north) at 4:56 p.m. If it's not raining, find a good place (near the water?) with an unobstructed view of the horizon to see them both!
