2. Read our newsletter – Mailed monthly to all UUFSM members and friends (or available via e-mail by request). It includes descriptions of upcoming services and activities, reports from the Board chair, and committees, descriptions of denominational events, and information about members. 3. Read our Sunday Order of Service – The Sunday service bulletin includes announcements about upcoming events, and a monthly insert provides a schedule for committee meetings. 4. Listen to the Sunday morning announcements – Brief oral announcements on Sunday morning highlight important events coming up within the next week or so. 5. Check out the Fellowship Hall before or after the service – The Visitors' Table, Social Justice Table, and other special displays include more detailed information about UUFSM events and other activities of special interest to members. You can also take a look at the Smart Book, which contains minutes of all Board meetings, copies of the By-Laws and Policies and Procedures Manual, an organizational chart, and other “official” information. 6. Check your e-mail – If you are on the UUFSM e-mail distribution list, you will receive late-breaking news about the Fellowship. 7. Attend Town Meetings and Congregational Meetings – Town Meetings, which are held several times a year, are opportunities to get information about current issues important to UUFSM and share your opinions. The official business of the fellowship is conducted at our Congregational Meetings, also generally held two to three times per year. 8. Attend a Board Meeting All Board Meetings are open to members for observation, and Board minutes are posted on our UUFSM web site. All members should be aware that they can also contact the chair at least a week in advance to request adding an issue to the agenda or to present a proposal to the Board. Every effort will be made to accommodate the request. To contact all members of the board, email board@uufsm.org.
9. Attend a Committee Meeting – All of these meetings are open to members of the Fellowship, and times and places are announced on the web-site, in the newsletter, and in the monthly insert in the order of service. Just let the committee chair know in advance that you would like to come.

2. Put information on the UUFSM website at www.uufsm.org by sending the information to the Webmaster at webmaster@uufsm.org. All meetings should be added to the UUFSM calendar; send information to calendar@uufsm.org. UUFSM reports and information describing UUFSM events should be posted on the website. Descriptions of other events of interest to members of UUFSM can also be put on the website. 3. Publish information about upcoming events in the monthly newsletter by calling the newsletter editor (see directory) by the third Sunday of the month or, even better, by emailing the information to newsletter@uufsm.org. Be as concise as possible since the length of the newsletter is limited. 4. Put announcements of upcoming events in the Sunday order of service by calling the editor by Wednesday or, even better, by sending it by email to bulletin@uufsm.org . And please congratulate people for doing a good job by filling out a card in the “way-to-go box” in the Fellowship Hall. 5. Post information of interest to the members of the Fellowship on the Community Bulletin Board that is available in the Fellowship Hall. 6. Important Fellowship events coming up within the next week or so can be announced from the pulpit each Sunday by giving the information to the Board Welcomer prior to the beginning of the Sunday service. In special cases, announcements may be made by the event coordinator, who should give the Board Welcomer a one-sentence statement indicating that the coordinator wishes to make the announcement themselves from their seats or, if appropriate, from the podium. 7. Late-breaking news about the Fellowship can be distributed on the UUFSM e-mail distribution list by emailing the information to Webmaster at webmaster@uufsm.org . 8. Praise, concerns, questions, feedback and other information can be provided to Board members and committee chairs in person, by phone or e-mail. Their email addresses are available on the website, and their phone numbers are in the directory. 9. Attend a Board Meeting or a Committee Meeting – All of these meetings are open to members of the congregation, and times and places are announced on the web-site, in the newsletter, and in the monthly insert in the order of service. Just let the committee chair know in advance that you would like to come and that you have something to say. 10. Be creative. Hand out flyers or put up posters in the Fellowship Hall. And nothing beats the personal, enthusiastic touch: go around before the service and during the social time and tell people about your event. |
