CHOIR
  UUFSM Choir

The choir practices on Wednesday evenings and performs twice a month on Sunday mornings.  Voices in every range are welcome! Musicians welcome, too!

One of the joys of being a musician is to perform and to perform well. This is often an individual thing; however, many musicians reach a higher level of satisfaction by performing in a group and having the group perform well. Singers who are reluctant to sing "outloud" whether publicly or privately [the shower?] often find they can obtain personal satisfaction while singing in a group. This is perhaps why so many of us enjoy hymn singing or singalongs.

Singing the Living TraditionMany singers shy away from joining a choir because they fear someone will hear them. This is a matter of confidence. There are many lovely voices out there who could sing in a choir and sing successfully but are reluctant for many reasons. [I know because I have heard them at services]. We started the choir at UUFSM because we found a few singers who could put in the time and enjoyed the process and the opportunity to serve the fellowship. We have sung, as we hope you remember, many kinds of music [hopefully well] and contributed positively to the overall worship service.

The music we have sung comes from many traditions, languages, and musical eras. In general we sing without accompaniment;however, occasionally we are assisted by guitar or synthesizer. To see what we have sung in the eight years we had been in existence please go to Music We Have Sung
